Robert Wilkinson, Business Development Director, Telefonica
Robert joined Telefonica to apply his knowledge of consumer behaviour and movement to the transport sector. A geographer by education, he is fascinated by the spatial and temporal patterns in large datasets.
Robert has spent much of his 17 year career analysing this type of data in the retail and retail infrastructure development sectors. He believes that interesting data insight is easy, but that valuable data insight requires an open dialogue between data vendor and data user. Focussing on decisions and actions that will be based upon the insight, ensures that both parties maximise the value of the relationship.
As part of the Commercial Smart Steps team in Telefonica, Robert works with many major transport consultancies and the Transport Systems Catapult to promote the use of mobile network data within the industry, and assist with the development of real-time behaviour and predictive models.
