Brian Mathews- Head of Transport Innovation, Milton Keynes Council
Brian has been with Milton Keynes Council since 1997, previously working for Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire County Councils.
Brian has taken up a role leading on the development and delivery of the council’s programme of Transport Innovation. This builds on Brian’s experience of managing the delivery of MK’s Electric Bus Project (UKs first fully electric bus service) and leading on the council’s Go Ultra Low cities programme – A £9m programme designed to increase the number of ULEVs in Milton Keynes.
Brian also worked alongside the Automotive Council and Transport Systems Catapult to help develop the Low carbon Urban Transport Zone (LUTZ) initiative, which provided the foundations for the Autonomous Pods project, (LUTZ Pathfinder) successfully completed in MK.
Brian also leads the Cities research programme as part of the UK Autodrive self-driving vehicle The UK Autodrive programme is perhaps the largest and s most complex driverless vehicle demonstration trial currently underway within the UK.
